Hallelujah

In response to my last post in which I mentioned the drawing class listened to kd lang’s version of the Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah my friend Kelly suggested in her comment that I listen to Jeff Buckley’s. I listened this morning, after breakfast, cup of tea by my side. It broke my heart wide open, have to say. I forgot to drink the tea. He is so amazingly present both to the music and to himself. So sad that he has departed the planet but he left us this incredible reminder of how beautiful it is to be human and vulnerable. That it’s all okay.

Afterwards I listened to several other versions—Leonard, John Cale, Rufus Wainwright and kd lang again. All beautiful, each in their own way. A great song.

This is what we’re trying to get to in art. Just standing naked. As we are. And in life. That’s when it gets good. Listen.

And Mary—yeah. Good old Leonard—he’s a poet. The words just wake you up.

NOW OUT!

Allan Hunter's new book, The Six Archetypes of Love, is now out! If you've ever wondered why a love affair went wrong (and who hasn't?) or how a relationship might grow, this short, concise book is a must read. Based on the idea that we move through defined stages of development in our life journeys this book helps us see just where we are and where we might go as far as love's concerned. It really is brilliant. I know, I'm a bit biased—Allan is my other half—but truly, buy this book!

A Big Shout Out!

Because it's brilliant and fun, because it just might change the way you see your life journey, even make that journey a little easier and wilder, a big shout out to Allan Hunter's new book—Stories We Need To Know.
